About the Program and What It Does:
The Email Address Coder will search every file of extension type for email addresses to code or decode in the folder it is in.
The Program will code and decode stand alone email addresses and addresses in <a href links including those that use
image links. The program will not code the image tag itself making it easy to make changes without changing the code.
The program will also code and decode addresses in <input statements of forms such as those used by PayPal.
The program does extensive error checking before it codes an email address.
The program will not code addresses contained in double quotes or in coding such as that used by JavaScript.
The program creates a backup file with a .bak extension before making any changes to the original file.
The program will not overwrite existing backup files.
The program supports long file names.
The Restore files from backups option restores files from .bak files.
You can use the Delete bak files option to delete existing backup files.
The program displays an onscreen synopsis of the files and email addresses it codes and/or decodes.
The program creates a report in the _log_cod.htm file on every file the program checks.
The program makes two passes through a file to code email addresses. The program codes email addresses in <a href
tags on the first pass. It then goes back through the file and codes stand alone addresses. Therefore, the line numbers
reported in the _log_cod.htm file are relative and may vary a little from the actual line numbers the address is on.
The program will not allow the following extensions: .bak, .com, .doc, .exe, .gif or .jpg.
The Email Address Coder Program will code and decode email addresses in all HTML file types.
HTML file types are files that contain hyperlink code such as htm, html, shtml, asp, cfm, css, php and txt files.
Actually, the Program will code and decode addresses in any text file.
Click here for more information on File Types.

Main Menu Options and what they do:
Option 1: Code email addresses in "htm" and "html" files.
This is the only option most users will need to code all email addresses in every file with an extension of htm or html.
Searches for and codes every email address in every file with a htm or html extension. Codes the <a href mailto: link
as well as every occurrence of the address including those found in image links and form <input statements.
Option 2: Code email addresses in selected files or with any allowable extension.
Codes every email address just like Option 1 in the selected files or the selected entension.
Restricted Extensions - common extensions not allowed: .bak, .com, .doc, .exe, .gif, and .jpg.
Requests a File Type with extension - only the first three characters of the extension are significant for the search.
Enter just the extension to code all files of that extension type.
Option 3: Decode email addresses in "htm" and "html" files.
Decodes every email address in every htm and html file that was coded by Option 1.
Option 4: Decode email addresses in selected files or with any allowable extension.
Decodes every email address in every file of the selected type.
See Option 2 for more information on file names and extensions and how they are handled.
Option 5: Restore "htm" and "html" files from backup files.
Copies backup .bak files to the original htm or html files.
Requests your approval before execution. This option finds every htm or html file in a folder and then tries to match
it to a backup file. If you only have a few original files you want restored, I suggest you copy the backup files and
the original htm and html files to a new folder before executing this option.
Option 6: Restore selected files or files with a selected extension from backup files.
See Option 2 for more information on file names and extension types.
Copies backup .bak files to the original files.
Requests your approval before execution. This option finds every selected file of extension type in a folder and then tries to
match it to a backup file. If you only have a few original files you want restored, I suggest you copy the backup files
and the original files of extension type to a new folder before executing this option.
Option 7: Delete ".bak" backup files.
Deletes every backup .bak file in the current folder. Requests your approval before execution.
Be sure you want to delete these files before answering yes. These files will not be sent to the Recycle Bin when deleted.
Therefore, you will not be able to recover them once they're deleted.
Option 8: Delete ".$$$" temporary files.
Ordinarily, you will not need this option. The program creates and deletes temporary files as it processes your files.
You will only see these files if the program is interrupted during execution. Requests your approval before execution.
Option 9: Display last changes made synopses.
Displays a synopses of the last changes made during the current execution of the program.
Option 0: Quit Program or press [Enter] without entering a number to quit.
Ends program execution and writes latest changes to the _log_cod.htm file.

Program won't run or Program Window closes before it does anything?
If you encounter this problem, the following should solve it. The path and terminology of the following may be a little
different on your computer. But, it should be pretty easy to solve the problem using the following outline:
This should solve the problem. Open the program by double clicking on the program's .EXE file name in Windows Explorer.
If the above doesn't solve the problem, your anti-virus program or firewall may be stopping the program from running.
I suggest you disconnect from the Internet while you do this.
It's doubtful the firewall will stop the program from running. So, try disabling the anti-virus program first.
The program should now work. If so, you'll have to find a way to set the anti-virus program to allow the program to run.
If the above doesn't solve the problem you can try disabling the firewall. But, I doubt this will do any good as the program
does not connect to the Internet in any way. You'll probable have to email me with the problem and I'll try to help you.

How do I create a Shortcut to the Program and make the Shortcut work?
********************************************************************************************
More information about File Types:
The program will search any text File Type.
Enter just the extension to code all files of that extension type.
Example 1: Enter shtml to code all email addresses in files that have sht as the first 3 characters of the extension.
You can also enter sht and get the same results.
Wildcards (? and *) can be used with file names only. Wildcards cannot be used in the extension.
The ? question mark is a substitute for 1 character and the * asterisk is a substitute for all characters.
Wildcards allow you to select multiple files that use similar characters in the file name.
Wildcards can produce unexpected results. I suggest you use copies of your files in a separate folder when using them.
Example 2: You have several files with an extension of html and htm and the first 6 characters of the file name is global.
You could enter global*.html to code all email addresses in just files that have global as the first 6
characters and html
or htm as an extension. These files would be searched: global.html, global_header.htm, global_body.htm.
Example 3: Code all files with an extension of php and have file names such as jane_page01.htm through jane_page15.htm.
You could enter jane_page*.htm to search these files.
This option can also be used to override the ` accent and _ underscore characters used to protected files.
Use of the override characters are option specific. They will not be in effect on the next execution of a new option.
Enter an ` accent or _ underscore as the first character of the file name with any extension to override.
Example 4: `*.asp would code email address in all files, including accent protected files, with an extension of asp.
Files with an _ underscore as the first character will still be protected on this execution.
Example 5: _*.cfm would code email address in all files, including underscore protected files, with an extension of cfm.
Files with an ` accent as the first character will still be protected on this execution.
Only files with a ` accent or _ underscore as the first character of the file name will be found in Examples 4 and 5.
Wildcards (? and *) can be used in file names but not in the extension.
The ? question mark is a substitute for 1 character and the * asterisk is a substitute for all characters.
Wildcards allow you to select multiple files that use similar characters in the file name. For example, if
you wanted to do a search in all txt files that have page as the first 4 characters of the file name, you
could enter page*.txt to search in those files only. You can also enter an individual file name to search
in that file only. For example, to search in this file only, you would enter codehelp.htm.
Files can be protected by using an ` accent or _ underscore as the first character of the file name.
You can perform searches and replacements in protected files by entering the ` accent or _ underscore
as the first character of the File Type. Example:
_*.htm will perform a search in all htm files that have an _ underscore as the first character of the file name.
